¿What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a treatment method recognized by scientific research as having the most evidence of positive effect on child development, driven by data, scientifically validated and conceptually systematic.
ABA Therapy teaches socially important and meaningful behaviors to improve the quality of life for the child and family. The main premise of an ABA program is to instruct "how to learn" language and communication skills, social skills, self-help and caring skills that promote inclusion, and to "unlearn" that is, to decrease or eliminate behaviors that are problematic, inappropriate or disruptive to family, school or community coexistence. In order to carry out this therapy, it is essential to maintain a collaborative approach between professionals, family and learner.
For children with neurodevelopmental disorders (autism, asperger's, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, attention deficit, learning disabilities, etc.), ABA therapy programs are efficient, useful and necessary, since they are individualized and focused on daily needs that aim at autonomy, independence and improvement of quality of life.
ABA therapy can be offered in various settings, such as home, school, community places frequented by the person. The goals and treatment plans used vary according to the needs of each individual.
